Who IS Slaughtering Iraqis? Comment by Larry Ross, April 26, 2007
According to the following article no-one seems to know who is behind the car bombings and other seemingly random slaughter of Iraqis. What is the purpose and whose interest does this serve? A thorough and objective investigation is needed by an independent authority not connected to the US the UK or other 'coalition of the willing' illegal invaders. That's right they are all illegal invaders. Previous Sec. Gen. of the UN, Kofi Annan, said the invasion and war was illegal and unjustified as have many other famous commentators. Time does not magically transform this criminal enterprise into a just war or otherwise sanitize it. The war was based solely on lies, false and twisted accusations and assumptions. 'Coalition-of-the-willing' partners know they are acting on the basis of a tissue of lies as do their mass media collaborators who joined in the festival of lying and false accusations. They are still lying every day and doing their best to present the Iraq disaster as justified, moral and truthful. George Bush has been portrayed as some kind of hero who saved the world from terrorism. Saddam Hussein and Iraq had nothing to do with (1) Osama bin Laden,(2) Al-Qaeda, (3)international terrorism (4) and the 9/11 attack. That's 4 big lies the media have repeated endlessly for Bush. They have never apologised to their readers for this deceit. Bush, Chaney, all their administration and all their coalition partners lied, and lied and lied as if it was all true. They were willing to start killing, even to use nuclear weapons, and they still are, in order to pursue an insane US global domination plan starting in the Middle East . Endless war, perpetual war, war without end has been mentioned many times by the neocons like Bush, Cheney Rice and others. That is what the world's leading democracies and their media have signed on for. I believe they knew this from the beginning or soon after the revelations began to flow in. Being consistent with the base of lies, random slaughter is always blamed on Al -Qaeda, Saddamists, the militias, religious differences, civil war etc and recently Iran . The US is setting up Iran using 'big lies' and accusations for the next attack in its territorial expansion war. But the US is always presented as the moral giant saving the world from terrorism, who would never deliberately provoke this kind of random slaughter of men, women and children. Continuation of the Iraq slaughter, including a war on Iran can result in millions of casualties and much wider wars if not a global nuclear war. The UK , Australia and a few others are willing to go all the way and even invite a World War III in order to justify George Bush's lies. That is the casual, arrogant, risk everything, madness of so-called 'Western Civilization'. It's not just George Bush and his queer cult of Christian Fundamentalism, including 'End Timers' and Exclusive Brethren praying for the biblically promised Armageddon. John Howard and Tony Blair justify and defend every single suicidal step and every single new big lie from George Bush as a revealed truth from on high. This is the situation we are faced with today as the US slaughter continues in Iraq . So who is doing this to us Iraqis ask? The following questions and more need to be vigorously investigated by a totally independent international body.
These are some of the questions that need investigating now - rather than the dumb, numb 'know nothing' attitude of collaborating media, governments and people who prefer not to know.

Iraqis Blame U.S. for "Bloody Wednesday" by Ali Al-Fadhily, IPS News, April 26, 2007
Under the security plans additional troops were brought to Baghdad and most city streets closed. But car bombings, operations by death squads and attacks on U.S. troops continue. The attacks Wednesday last week took a high casualty among Kurdish workers known to work in that area. Kurds in the north have stayed relatively free of the violence and the sectarian Shia-Sunni killings in the rest of the country. Kurds had supported the U.S.-led invasion four years back. "A car bomb went off in Sadriyah neighbourhood in the city centre causing death to over 200 people," Mahmood Abdulla from the Russafa Police Directorate in Baghdad told IPS. "It is not certain that the car was driven by a suicide person, in fact most of us believe it was parked there since early morning." Sadriyah is one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Baghdad. It is an area that brings together different ethnic and sectarian groups. "We do not know who is killing us, but we do know who is responsible for our safety," Kaka Kadir, who lost a 15-year-old son in the attack told IPS. "All we receive from our government and the Americans is talk, and holding other people accountable, while it is them who should protect us." "I do not believe it is al-Qaeda any more," a woman weeping near the scene of the bombing told IPS. "I do not care any more, I am just losing my loved ones. The last explosion hit my husband and now he is disabled, and this one took my son's life." She referred to a similar bombing two-and-a-half months ago at the same market, which killed 137 and wounded many more. |
