I was shocked to see the degree that Israel's intellectuals accepted the official justification for Israel's exceptionally barbarous wars on Lebanon and Palestine.

As the following article demonstrates, they justify the slaughter and every aspect of the disproportionality of Israel's response to Lebanese seizing of two Israeli soldiers. Nowhere do these intellectuals seem to admit that the war was planned well in advance. The seized solders were only an excuse for Israel to begin one of the most brutal wars in history. Why?

Israeli pro-war propagandists cultivate the image that Israel is a nearly helpless nation surrounded by a sea of enemies who want to destroy it. They believe that Israel is fighting for it's life. This fantasy has become reality for the majority of Israelis who support the war. It shows the effectiveness of Israeli propaganda. In wartime people become less rational
and more easily swept into the passions and hatreds of the enemy. War, once it progresses beyond a certain point, develops a momentum and rationale of it's own. Protest, dissent, rational discussion of alternatives, becomes
utterly useless. Once people are surrounded by violence, warfare and systematic war propaganda, they seem to leave behind the thin veneer of civilisation and descend into an orgy of violence, hatred and animosity.

Would Israel be so belligerent and contemptuous of UN resolutions if it was not loaded with nuclear weapons and god knows how many other weapons of mass destruction.? Israel is untouchable and as their amazing behaviour shows
it's conscious of the fact and using that power while maintaining that image of "poor little Israel fighting for it's life.".. However, like Sampson, Israel can bring the Temple down around everyone - and not just in the middle east.

Escalating wars have a habit of spreading. Today that means Armageddon and 'End Times". Lebanon is only one of the U.S.-Israeli assaults on the Islamic world. And it may only be the beginning. Everything Israel and the U.S-Israeli propagandists say about their war is loaded with phrases blaming and condemning Iran and Syria. Most aggressor nations usually blame the nations they are attacking as well as those they plan to attack. Hitler did it every time he planned to invade another nation.

The U.S. and Israeli nuclear weapons arsenals make them virtually invincible except to the madness of their own hubris. They are both capable of destroying the world. They know it and are using this power to make war regardless of any consequences. Will the Islamic world simply accept the endless and escalating brutality and destruction of their nations? I doubt it. It is more likely that U.S.-Israeli unjustified brutal wars will provoke responses from others that will escalate to nuclear war. The way things are developing I think it is likely that Israel and the U.S. will use nuclear weapons against one or more Islamic states. Nuclear escalation could follow as some or all of the other 8 nuclear weapon states become involved. It could mean the end of civilisation in a few hours.

Israeli Intellectuals Love the War

Dedicated to the too few Israeli intellectuals who do dare speak out against this war.

All generalizations are wrong, except this one: Israeli liberal intellectuals are against war. They have always been against it, and they even suffered greatly for their critical views, as they stress proudly. They were against the previous war, they will be against the next war, they are against all wars. There is just one minor exception, though: the present war, every present war, which they always support. Because the present war – well, that's something totally different from all those other wars! How can you even compare?! The present war is always inevitable, and necessary, and just, and worthy of support.

For those who imagine Israel's intellectual elite as a sane oasis of rational, moderate, peace-loving liberals, here are a few snapshots of Israel's intellectual cheerleaders on their current patriotic march supporting the devastation of Lebanon.
