Psychological War on World Opinion Comment by Larry Ross, December 7, 2006 As the following article indicates, the US invests millions of dollars and an army of psychological warfare experts to influence the public and politicians everywhere to favour US policies and believe US-invented lies. The Iraq war was a good example of a series of lie stories faithfully printed or broadcast by most mass media as true, and even supported editorially. Criticism or exposure of the lies with true stories was simply not allowed by the editors. Nowhere was this better illustrated than with some of the newspapers in New Zealand. They repeated the US lies and the justification of the Iraq war long after other media - particularly internet articles - had exposed them as lies. If they were sincere and honest they would have apologised to their readers for printing deceptive articles about the Iraq war. But they never did - not a word. Nor did the 'editors' of these 'papers' even print articles by others exposing these lies. It is a closed deceptive system guaranteed to deceive and misinform people, and deliver a majority of the population who will approve whatever policies are favoured by the media. It is no wonder that the UK and Australian governments had little political opposition to sending troops to fight in the US 's illegal Iraq war. Initially there was significant public opposition and demonstration to the war. It was remarkable how quickly this died away as the public returned to 'business as usual'. The deceptiveness of the mass media, even the BBC, was well illustrated by the re-election of two illegal US war supporters and US lie repeaters - John Howard in Australia and Tony Blair in England. This could never have happened if the media had been doing an honest job and exposed the continuous litany of lies told to the public about this war. The US virtually controls many of the mass media and distributes a flood of propaganda articles through the wire services. Many of these invented lie stories are then picked up by the mass media in every country and relayed on to the various publics as true news stories. Every mass media crosses its heart and swears it only prints 'true' stories and would never mislead their readers. If this were true they would have some review board or other means to assessing incoming news for its validity especially in this age when many government invest millions in creating and spinning propaganda stories. However, so far as is known, there are no such validity assessment systems in place.

US using media in psychological war against Iran
Signs of a collapse of the anti-American government of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua immediately showed after the US and Western press launched a psychological war against the country through its domestic press....ow the Western and US press have turned their eyes at the Latin American state of Venezuela, inciting the people to stand up against the alleged dictatorship of President Hugo Chavez by releasing millions of "black news" after the attempted, US-supported coup d'etat in Venezuela four years ago failed. Iran-US-Nuclear The Associated Press, Reuters, the United Press, France Press, CNN and BBC have been pioneers of the West's media disinformation. Biased news stories disseiminated by Western news agencies are not limited to the political field but also extend to social, cultural and economic activities of countries which they target. Cuba, to cite an example, has for decades been subjected to US sanctions and military threats by the Western press in both its political and non-political activities. Signs of a collapse of the anti-American government of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua immediately showed after the US and Western press launched a psychological war against the country through its domestic press. Several reports and results of research on the collapse of the Soviet Union also confirm that the US and European press were responsible for the fall of the USSR through a media war they successfully launched against it. Now the Western and US press have turned their eyes at the Latin American state of Venezuela, inciting the people to stand up against the alleged dictatorship of President Hugo Chavez by releasing millions of "black news" after the attempted, US-supported coup d'etat in Venezuela four years ago failed.
