Action
Alert: from Evan Augustine Peterson
III, J.D., Januaury 26, 2005
The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote
on US Attorney General appointee Alberto
Gonzales sometime TODAY, January 26. If the SJC confirms Mr. Gonzales,
the full Senate will vote on his appointment
early next week. Therefore, this morning
is your last chance to flood the SJC members with phone calls urging them
to vote against Mr. Gonzales! If you have to make your calls so
early in the morning that no Senators'
staffs will be in yet, you can always leave your
message on their voicemail.
I want these important calls to be easy
for you, so please see the "Notes" underneath
my signature line, which list: (A) the SJC's 18 members and their phone
numbers; and (B) 25 articles that present compelling reasons to oppose
the
Gonzales appointment.
Finally, it's worth noting that the Mexican
American Political Association now
publicly opposes Alberto Gonzales' USAG appointment (e.g., see http://www.mapa.org)!
With Heartfelt Thanks To Everyone Who Calls
The SJC This Morning,
Evan Augustine Peterson III, J.D.
Executive Director
American Center for International Law ("ACIL")
