Widows and Orphans

Dear Friends,

I have often been asked why I quote the Bible so much. Aside from my personal beliefs, I find the Bible to be relevant because both the leading aggressors in the world, the US and Israel, claim to be founded on Bible-based principles. The leaders of both nations profess the God of the Bible, and base at least some of their actions, such as Israeli settlement policy, on passages in the Bible that go back to Genesis.

The Bible is a major player on the political stage today. Therefore, it behooves us all to know what it really says, and what the God of the Bible is really like. In this way we can prove to the Christian Zionists that Bush and Sharon are NOT obeying the God of the Bible, but rather the opposite. God defends widows and orphans, Bush and Sharon create them. Let's get our values straight.

The father of orphans and the defender of widows
is God in his holy dwelling.
God gives a home to the forsaken;
he leads forth prisoners to prosperity.
Psalm 67: 6-7
