On Potential US Voting Fraud
by Larry Ross 28/8/04
Howard Dean, previous presidential
contender, warned recently about potential voting machine fraud and that
voters should demand a paper trail for each machine - otherwise fraud
can occur and be undetected. I suspect that Bush & Co. will arrange
with his voting machine friends for the disappearance of some Democratic
votes, dropping, losing or not counting enough of the democratic votes
in borderline states, that Bush will win and appear to be re-elected by
popular vote.
I think that one answer for Americans would be educate as many fellow-
Americans as possible, particularly some of the categories of Bush supporters.
The whole psychology of reaching and communicating with Bush supporters
should be quickly explored. A proportion would be immune to any critical
communication. However some could be reached with specific arguments in
their own language. For example:
- The fundamentalists could
be offered a great variety of Christian-religous and ethical arguments
to show Bush as more like antichrist than like Christ.
- Arguments to real or pseudo
military types would show how counterproductive Bush's war strategy
has been and how wasteful, alienating and unnecessarily to achieve US
objectives and how Bush is risking global war and massive annihilation
to achieve phoney goals based on lies.
- Then there is Mr and Mrs
average Republican voter. Approaches to them may be
that Bush does not represent traditional US conservatism - and that
Bush is doing the opposite of what the US founding fathers taught.
However there
are various strategies Bush may use to win or postpone the election, or
get voter support such as:
- Another terrorist incident
like 9/11 would again unite US opinion behind Bush. People may never
know how such a convenient incident happened.
- Declaring red alert due
an alleged "terrorist warning" and using that to gain public
support and maybe cancel the elections if it appears he would lose.
- Inventing a flood of
new lies to justify starting a new war - as is warned with Iran.
It worked with Iraq. So long as the US mass media continues to co-operate,
any scheme convincingly done, might fool enough people in increase support
for Bush.
- Terrorist warnings, incidents,
new wars etc all give Bush the right climate to initiate new patriot-type
laws thus furthering the US steady march toward a full-fledged fascist
dictatorship - American style.
The answer? Massive resources, multi-millions, for a big US citizen-directed
voter education campaign.
