Scott Ritter Speaks Out on U.S. Plans to Nuke Iran UN Inspector Scott Ritter, talks about the background to the Iraq and Iran wars and U.S. plans to attack Iran using nuclear weaponsComment by Larry Ross, July 7, 2006 This is a transcript of Scott Ritter's talk at Amherst, organised by the Traprock centre on Nov 17, 2005. It is very important in giving an accurate historical perspective. He was at the centre of events as a U.S. Marine soldier fighting in the first Iraq war, then as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq. He reveals how the U.S. conspired to ensure that the very successful UN inspection and disarmament efforts were torpedoed, so that the U.S. and UK could engage in mass bombing of Iraq's non-existent weapons-of-mass destruction, crippling sanctions that killed thousands of Iraqi children, and eventually, war based on lies. It is a very, very revealing talk that helps one really understand the continuing deceit practiced by the U.S. and UK governments on their own people about Iraq, Iran and middle-east affairs during the preceding decades. He also has many revealing insights and advice to peace activists. This paper contains many startling revelations, and helps to really understand the current situation and war on Iraq in depth, and why the coming assault on Iran will probably be nuclear. Separate papers will show the potential catastrophic long-term results. Although it is a long paper, I believe people will find it very rewarding and valuable. It is very honest, very shocking, and very passionate. It has many important facts you may wish to use and refer to in the future. I bet you will agree that investing an hour on this paper is worth it.

Thank you very much for the kind words of introduction. It's certainly an honor and privilege to be here tonight to talk with you. I wish it was under better circumstances. I wish we were here to talk about how good things are happening in the cause of peace, how congress has reversed course and they're bringing our boys and girls home, how the Bush administration has woke up suddenly and said, ‘you know, this concept of global domination through the unilateral application of military force is not sound policy,' and the Democrats woke up for the first time in a long time and said, ‘you know, we facilitated this war in Iraq. We're as much to blame as George W. Bush.' But that's not the case. We live in a time where bad things are happening. .. . The fact is, ladies and gentlemen, we live in very sad times, and, if you reflect long and hard on the reality of the issue, as I'm sure everyone in this room does, not just sad times but depressing times. I'm not going to say much here tonight that's going to give you hope because there's not much to be hopeful about. We are in a war that shows no inclination of ever ending. Continue. . .
