on "Green Holocaust: The Death Throes of a Dying Civilization"
by Carol Wolman, MD, February 1, 2004
Dear
Friends,
As a psychiatrist, I am in the habit of analyzing my inner life. As a
peacemaker, I struggle to maintain inner tranquility while closely following
the external events of the day.
Like most people, I am psychically overwhelmed by the snowballing horrors
of our times, and have to numb myself to some degree in order to maintain
functionality and cheerfulness. The temptation to yield to despair is
overwhelming at times; I counter it with my faith, and with the love of
my fellow peacemakers. It is encouraging to know how many of us there
are all around the world.
I highly recommend Jean Hudon's recent series: "Green Holocaust:
The Death Throes of a Dying Civilization, to be found at:
http://www.EarthRainbowNetwork.com/Archives2004/GreenHolocaust13.htm
Jean has compiled a series of articles about the ecological crisis, which
is hitting the steep slope of the catastrophe curve. We read about global
warming and attendant climate changes, horrifying new epidemics, drugs
and chemicals which render much of our food supply unsafe. Meanwhile the
corporate pirates, controlling the mass mind of America via the media,
with a healthy dose of terror thrown in, focus the citizens' attention
on warmaking and deny the urgent necessity to deal with eco-emergencies.
The thugs are hastening the demise of the biosphere in order to reap huge
short-term profits for themselves.
Hudon's series does not mention the irreversible radiation poisoning of
the gene pool, also accelerating, as depleted uranium dust from weaponry
used in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan, etc. spreads through the atmosphere
and circles the globe. The biosphere may already be doomed to a slow mutagenic
extinction.
The moral pollution seems just as pervasive, as the American people seem
indifferent to obvious lies which lead to mass murder and plunder of other
sovereign nations. "Moral" attention is focused on issues like
abortion and birth control, while the commandments which prohibit killing,
stealing, and bearing false witness are ignored. The thugs masquerade
as Christians, and their followers drive SUV's while waiting to be raptured
up.
Jesus blessed the peacemakers, not the warmongers. Another name for Him
is the Prince of Peace. He warned people repeatedly against false prophets
and hypocritical Pharisees,
I take heart from the many brave souls who are stepping forward to tell
the truth, often at great personal risk. The truth is all that can save
us. It is personified by Jesus, who showed us the truth that we have to
be willing to die for others. These days, with proto-fascists ruling America,
and the future of life on earth at stake, we must be willing to die for
the sake of posterity.
When my emotions threaten to swamp my boat, I remember that Jesus is the
Prince of Peace, and that He is in charge. In His name, Carol Wolman,

Mk 4:35-41
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples:
"Let us cross to the other side."
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him,
"Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
He woke up,
rebuked the wind,
and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!"
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
Then he asked them, "Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?"
They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
"Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?"
