Bush Builds Internal Structure For Empire

Comment by Larry Ross, March 10, 2005

Bush's appointments of Bolton, Negroponte and others, and getting rid of saner minds such as Colin Powell suggests he will continue to widen his wars in the Middle East, build a new American Empire and lessen the influence and functions of the UN.

Also, Bush's propaganda war is increasing (an example is NZ TV1 news 10/3/05) with so-called experts praising Bush for spreading 'democracy and freedom' in the Middle East, his critics becoming his cheer leaders, and an NZ ad man advising the CIA on a more publicity acceptable name than Bush's 'war on terror'. The media, even in NZ, do not mention Bush's illegal invasion based on lies and the killing of over 100,000 people in his pursuit of oil and control of Iraq. The corporate media do not draw attention to the fact that Bush and his administration have committed multiple war crimes and should be standing trial at the World Court at The Hague. The more Bush commits war crimes, the more enthusiastic the media becomes about relaying pro-Bush war propaganda.

John Bolton is best known as one of the most confrontational, combative, and humorless figures within the administration, having earned his formidable reputation as the undersecretary of state for arms control and international security during Bush's first term.

''This is like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse," said Heather Hamilton, vice president of programs for Citizens for Global Solutions (CGS) (formerly the World Federalist Association).

The Armageddon Nominee

John Bolton, Hamilton says, is the ''Armageddon nominee,'' alluding to the words of former Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.), who once admiringly described Bolton as ''the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon, if it should be my lot to be on hand for what is forecast to be the final battle between good and evil in this world."
