18 Amazing Facts About Voting In The USA. from Evan Augustine Peterson III, J.D., March 09, 2005
Preface: Whether you're a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, this is worth looking into, because we're all citizens with a solemn duty to preserve our democracy! 18 Amazing Facts About Voting In The USA: Did You Know That... ? 1. 80% of all votes in America are
counted by only two companies: (A) Diebold (i.e., Diebold Election Systems
of Ohio); (B) ES&S (i.e., Election Systems & Software of Nebraska).
2. There is no federal agency with
regulatory authority or oversight of the USA's voting machine industry.
Hence, the electronic-voting machine manufacturers actually pay laboratories
-- a blatant conflict of interest -- to conduct so-called "independent
tests" that supposedly verify the accuracy of their e-voting machines.
3. The vice-president of Diebold and
the president of ES&S are brothers. 4. The Chairman and CEO of Diebold,
Walden W. O'Dell, is a major Bush campaign organizer and donor who wrote,
in 2003, that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral
votes to the president next year." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/07/28/sunday/main632436.shtml
5. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel of
Nebraska used to be the Chairman of ES&S. He was elected to
the Senate in a surprise upset, with votes counted by ES&S machines.
6. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel --
long connected with the Bush family -- was recently caught by the Senate
Ethics Committee lying about his ownership of ES&S. 7. Senator Chuck Hagel was on a short
list of George W. Bush's vice-presidential candidates. http://www.businessweek.com/2000/00_28/b3689130.htm 8. Kenneth Blackwell co-chaired George
W. Bush's 2004 election campaign in Ohio. And Mr. Blackwell was Ohio's
Secretary of State in 2004. As this blatant conflict of interest
might indicate, he left no stone unturned to suppress the Democratic vote. 9. Diebold's touch-screen voting machines
leave no paper trail for the votes that they record electronically.
In other words, there is no way to verify whether the data that comes
out of Diebold's machines is an accurate record of the votes that the
voters legitimately cast on election day. 10. Diebold also makes ATMs, checkout
scanners, and ticket machines -- all of which log each transaction and
can generate a paper trail. 11. Exit polls are usually excellent
predictors of election results. Reputable analysts could not find any
explanation for the outcome-reversing discrepancy between the exit polls
and the results of the 2004 presidential election. 12. A Diebold subsidiary employed five
convicted felons as senior managers and developers. These five convicted
felons then helped to write the central compiler computer code that counted
50% of the votes in 30 states. 13. For instance, Jeff Dean, a senior
programmer on Diebold's central compiler code, was convicted of 23 counts
of felony theft in the first degree. 14. Jeff Dean served jail time for
planting back doors in his client's accounting software and for using
a "high degree of sophistication" to evade detection over a period of
two years. 15. None of the international election
observers were allowed to observe the electoral process at any of Ohio's
polling precincts. 16. California's Secretary of State
banned the use of Diebold's voting machines due to their many security
flaws. Despite Diebold's phony claims that their central tabulator
and audit logs could not be hacked, a high school student -- or even a
chimpanzee -- could do it! See entry for March 8, 2005: 17. All -- not some, but ALL -- of
the voting machine errors that were detected and reported in Florida favored
either George W. Bush or another Republican candidate. 18. Serious voting anomalies in Florida
-- again, always favoring Mr. Bush -- have been demonstrated mathematically
and the experts are recommending further investigation. http://www.consortiumnews.com/2004/110904.htmlhttp:/uscountvotes.org/ These eighteen points are based on a list that was originally compiled by "Angry Girl": http://nightweed.com/usavotefacts.html ______________________________________________
Comments On The "18 Amazing Facts About Voting in The USA" Were the American peoples'
votes deliberately miscounted?
If so, then by implication, this means that we are no longer living in a democracy. However, when I read the list a few days
ago, some of the allegations just seemed too preposterous to believe. Therefore, I tracked down the author of the 18 facts, who graciously responded with a list of references for each allegation. In particular, I checked out the allegations about Jeff Dean. It didn't take long to get to this factual verification. According to the "Findings of Fact" in Case No. 89-1-04034-1 (Washington State): ...Defendant's thefts occurred over a 2 1/2 year period of time, there were multiple incidents, more than the standard range can account for, the actual monetary loss was substantially greater than typical for the offense, the crimes and their cover-up involved a high degree of sophistication and planning in the use and alteration of records in the computerized accounting system that defendant maintained for the victim, and the defendant used his position of trust and fiduciary responsibility as a computer systems and accounting consultant for the victim to facilitate the commission of the offenses." Another reference led to a detailed account of the double-database technique that Mr. Dean pioneered to enable electronic vote-tabulation software to give a false total, while still presenting accurate details in case of spot audits. In combination with the undisputed circumstantial evidence and obvious conflicts of interest in the 18 facts above, these last details are just too damning to ignore! he American people must resolve that it is totally unacceptable to leave this dark cloud hanging over the validity of the USA's 2004 electoral process!
