Cheney, Lieberman and Iran War Conspiracy

I was never one of those who believed the Bush administration was getting ready to attack Iran in 2006 or early 2007. But it is now clear that at least Vice President Dick Cheney is conspiring to push through a specific plan for war with Iran. And Senator Joe Lieberman is an active part of that conspiracy.

As there were to be no "body bags" (or cameras to film them as the dead came home), as there were to be no "body counts" ("We have made a conscious effort not to be a body-count team" was the way the President put it ), as there were to be no "quagmires," nor the need to search for that "light at the end of the tunnel," so, surely, there were to be no "escalations."

Pre-Trial Continues for Priests Who Denounce Torture

Two Roman Catholic priests, who were arrested as they approached the Fort Huachuca gatehouse on November 19, 2006, will face a continuance of their pre-trial hearing this August 13 in Federal Court in Tucson, Arizona. The intent of Franciscan Fr. Louis Vitale, 74, and Jesuit Fr. Steve Kelly, 58, was to speak with enlisted personnel and deliver a letter denouncing torture to Major General Barbara Fast, commander at the post. The letter addressed to Major General Fast voices the priests' concern with what is being taught to interrogators who are being trained at Fort Huachuca, the headquarters for the intelligence services of the US military.

Again, Bush is demonising Iran by accusing them of wanting nuclear weapons, and accusing them of aiding terrorism in his illegal Iraq War.

It's in plain view on the White House Web site: "Executive Order: Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq."

US Capitalist System Spins Out of Control

The US capitalist system is a sacred religion, a dogma that cannot be questioned, but is out of control and leading to global environmental destruction as Sullivan illustrates. However its offspring - the military-industrial-political complex - is also out of control, breeding wars and new arms races which threaten to destroy the world in the nearer future. The economic system and values of global humanity keep accelerating this self-destructive system. Why do we sell them our souls?

It is painfully obvious that America is a land that worships the market economy. Big money is God here. Big money is all powerful, omnipotent. All solutions, as perceived by the captains of business, therefore, must be market based. Moreover, in the moribund perceptions of the ruling elite, the market must be totally unfettered. It must exist beyond the pale of conscience, bearing no responsibility to the people, or to the earth that sustains it. It must answer only to the bottom line and reject all other input—a function that it has executed only too well.

Anti-War Demonstration

This may be one of the most important anti-war demonstrations to be held against Bush's illegal war on Iraq and should be supported by all who wish an end to the war. The long-term estimates of some 2 Trillion dollars for the war should be compared to the US Civil Engineers estimate of some 1.6 trillion to repair the aging US infrastructure. Also many social welfare programmes in the US are now being starved of funds.  However to the Bush regime, inventing excuses to wage wars for empire and to feed the US military-industrial complex is likely to take priority. Demonstrations are needed for many reasons, but Bush has shown he will continue to make war whatever the cost and no matter what the criticism. Perpetual war is Bush's answer. This, endless profits and religious delusional are the sacred morality of the Bush regime. I doubt if demonstrations can do it. Impeachment may be the only sure way to stop a nuclear madman. 

Money for Bridges and Cities, NOT War! Sept. 29 in DC

On October 1, Congress is scheduled to authorize over $100 billion for continued war in Iraq, and estimates for the long term costs of the war are over $2 trillion. Already more than $500 billion has been spent. 
"The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that the USA needs to spend $1.6 trillion over five years to put its infrastructure — which includes some 590,000 bridges — in good condition."

Arctic Resource Wars?

In staking a claim to a large part of Arctic oil and gas reserves, Russia has fired the first shot of what may become known as Arctic Resource Wars.
The Bush Empire, willing to invent lies to justify killing for oil in the Middle East , will also pursue this new resource. Obviously a peaceful solution to opposing claims would be in the interests of all nations. But given US imperial war policies and the value of perpetual wars to the US economy and military-industrial complex, this will be viewed as an opportunity to expand the new US-Russia cold war and new nuclear arms race. That is the likely choice, rather than exploring the options for a peaceful solution.

Russian explorers dived deep below the North Pole in a submersible and planted a national flag on the seabed to stake a symbolic claim to the energy riches of the Arctic.
A mechanical arm dropped a specially made rust-proof titanium flag on to the Arctic seabed at a depth of 4261 metres under the surface, Itar-Tass news agency quoted expedition officials as saying.
Russia wants to extend right up to the North Pole the territory it controls in the Arctic, believed to hold vast reserves of untapped oil and natural gas.

15 September 2002: A SECRET blueprint for US global domination reveals that President Bush and his cabinet were planning a premeditated attack on Iraq to secure 'regime change' even before he took power in January 2001.

Although Congressman Keith Ellison did not directly accuse the Bush Administration of masterminding the 9/11 attack, he said many of Bush's actions afterward were very similar to those of Adolph Hitler who seized dictatorial power and waged unjustified wars, after the Nazis had burned down the Reichstag. If it weren't so depressing, it would be entertaining to watch the loathed, ridiculed and remarkably unpopular Bush administration continue to run circles around the supposedly ascendant Democrats in Congress.
Now that Democrats have provided Bush with full summer funding for his outrageous and doomed escalation of the Iraq War, they are finding themselves incapable of stopping even that affront to the American public, which last November made it clear it wanted this bloody madness in Iraq to end.

Paul Craig Roberts knows what's really happening and likely to happen in Washington. He was a top official in the Reagan Administration and assistant editor of the Wall Street Journal. His dire warnings about the disasters to follow if Bush, Cheney and others are not impeached should be a spur to action.
All the indications are for a US war on Iran and all the machinery is in place for Bush to declare a crisis situation and make the US his dictatorship.
Of particular importance is Roberts warnings that Bush will stage a 'false flag' covert attack on the US and then blame Iran as a justification for war and a US dictatorship.

Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.
Bush has put in place all the necessary measures for dictatorship in the form of "executive orders" that are triggered whenever Bush declares a national emergency. Recent statements by Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, former Republican senator Rick Santorum and others suggest that Americans might expect a series of staged, or false flag, "terrorist" events in the near future.

It's good to see the NYT coming out with some limited criticism of Bush's Iraq war and his domestic scare tactics.
It's a pity it is so little and 4 years late.
The NYT does not apologize for endlessly repeating the lies which the Bush Administration invented justify the war. They don't mention that the war is based on lies and is still totally illegal. In fact they accept the war and write with the arrogant assumption that their readers also accept the war lies as facts of life not to be questioned. They confine their arguments to the methods Bush uses to try and win his illegal war. Sometimes they express a little worry about 3,900 US military casualties. But never any concern about the continuing murder by the Bush Administration of some 655,000 Iraqis.
Nevertheless the occasional glimmer of light and independence from America 's supposedly greatest newspaper is welcome, even if fleeting.
Like most US mass media, the NYT repeats Bush lies and accusations about Iran , carefully preparing and conditioning reader's minds to accept Bush's coming war on Iran.  What kind of independent journalism is that?

It had to happen. President Bush's bungling of the war in Iraq has been the talk of the summer. On Capitol Hill, some of the more reliable Republicans are writing proposals to force Mr. Bush to change course. A showdown vote is looming in the Senate. Enter, stage right, the fear of terrorism.

This article describes how the increased conditioning of gullible Americans about the alleged 'terrorist threat' makes them support the Republicans they believe will better protect them. It also prepares the ground for a real US-staged 'false flag' attack on the US, which the Bush regime might arrange to justify their much-heralded war on Iran. That most Americans are dangerously misinformed and gullible is revealed by recent polls that found that 60% of the American public and 90% of US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan believe Saddam Hussein colluded with bin Laden to launch the alleged 9/11 attacks on US.

As Americans turn increasingly against President George Bush's calamitous war in Iraq, and revolt spreads through Republican ranks, the White House is again resorting to its tried-and-true ploy of fanning grossly inflated fears of terrorism.
The president just made two preposterous claims last week that insult the intelligence of his listeners. First, Bush insisted US forces in Iraq are fighting "the same people who staged 9/11."

Paul Craig Roberts has done a masterly job at exposing Bush's changing lies to justify the Iraq war and coming war on Iran in a very similar way that George Orwell did in his futuristic book "1984"
It explains why Orwell's book achieved such fame - people knew he was right.
Unfortunately the American population is forever gullible. They accept the changing lies just as Orwell's population accepted them in 1984.
With a wealth of experience in Washington , and having served in the Reagan Administration, Paul Craig Roberts is well-qualified to make this comparison.

In his novel 1984 , George Orwell portrayed a future time in which the explanations of recent events and earlier history are continually changed to meet Big Brother's latest purpose. Previous explanations disappear down "the memory hole."
Sound familiar? Any American who pays attention can observe the identical phenomenon occurring in the U.S. today.

The US has already made a number of false charges against Iran - more than enough to justify a war. Bush may feel he does not need to stage a false flag attack on the US and blame Iran in order to justify his planned attack. He has already invented enough lies to blame Iran , as he did before his attack on Iraq. Congress has given Bush an open door for a new war and the authority he needs to make a new war on Iran on top of the deepening quagmire he made in Iraq.

In the United States provoking war with Iran, to begin while the Congress is conveniently on its August recess?
One recalls that it was in August 1964, after the Republicans nominated Barry Goldwater, that the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred.

The US military and civilian war makers in Washington have learned lessons from the Vietnam War - how to minimize domestic outrage and protest. One tactic is to strictly control the media and reportage of their bombing raids on civilian centres - and the casualties of innocent men, women and children in Iraq. What the US people don't know about, they can't protest or be spurred to action. The Pentagon doesn't want another Vietnam, where US barbarity was featured in the Press and TV every night. The US people could not stomach this and responded with giant demonstrations which helped stop the war.

Three years have passed since most Americans came to the conclusion that the Iraq war was a "mistake." Reporting the results of a Gallup poll in June 2004, USA Today declared: "It is the first time since Vietnam that a majority of Americans has called a major deployment of US forces a mistake." And public opinion continued to move in an antiwar direction. But such trends easily coexist with a war effort becoming even more horrific.

Whereas the CIA and it's interests in using Sudan as a source of intelligence for the Iraq war is featured in this article, there is not a word about the very great interest the US has in Sudan's oil. This oil interest and the policies that flow from it, are mentioned in some of the other articles on this site. The immorality and two-faced policies of the US toward Sudan and the very low priority it gives to the genocide against Darfur, indicates that Oil takes priority over the blood of men, women and children in Darfur. That the following article only mentioned the CIA spy interests and not a word about oil seems to indicate that the media prefers not to alert it's readers about this vitally important connection in the formation of US foreign policy.

Sudan has secretly worked with the CIA to spy on the insurgency in Iraq - an example of how the United States has continued to cooperate with the Sudanese regime even while condemning its role in the killing of tens of thousands of civilians in Darfur.
President Bush has condemned the killings in Darfur as genocide and has imposed sanctions on Sudan's government. But some critics say the administration has soft-pedaled the sanctions to preserve its extensive intelligence collaboration with Sudan.

America is failing in Iraq, even while it destroys the nation it invaded. It is destroying itself, its economy and any pretence at civilized values, while it claims to be spreading 'freedom and democracy'. In fact it is spreading death, destruction and corrupted client regimes it labels as 'democratically elected'.

America is a modern Rome: an arrogant empire that does not understand the limits of power. I guess no empire really does. This is why they rise and fall. It is not an American trait; it is the nature of unchecked power. Yet in his book, Murphy tries to construct a moral ethos for American hegemony and aggressive drive to dominate the world. Unfortunately the basic pre'ise of his argument goes against history.

While America fought lost wars, The Bear was awakened! Moving from a unipolar world to a multipolar one provides needed balance, but also might precipitate a new kind of Cold War over oil and gas. Russia is using energy as its means of regaining international prestige.
One of the main reasons for NATO expansion, from America's strategic point of view, was to prevent Russia from restoring its former influence. But Moscow's new diplomatic offensive has made large holes in America's containment policy.

The following is a number of articles dealing with global oil resources and the policies of different nations toward these resources. Of particular interest is the battle between states for control of Sudan's oil - one of the richest oil fields in Africa. At the same time the Government of Sudan is commiting genocide against the population of Darfur. That results in two-faced policies by governments wanting good relations with Sudan to get access to it's oil, while appearing to pacify human rights organizations by condemning Sudan for its genocide against the population of Darfur. As in Iraq, it seems to be the oil interests that triumph over human rights.

"Black gold" often brings hardship and misery to the societies where it is found. Petroleum-producing countries are plagued by corrupt and authoritarian governments, lopsided and unsustainable economic development and violent conflict. Foreign powers and their huge multinational oil companies often maneuver for control of the oil fields through clandestine operations or outright military intervention. In addition, disaffected rebels challenge governments in hope of winning a share of the lucrative oil revenues.

... Due to a 'false flag' incident in which nation One arranges a massive secret attack against nation Two, but it is made to look as if the attack came from   nation Three. The purpose is to supply the incentive and justification for nation two to make war on nation three. The entire exercise is presumed to benefit nation One - so long as their treachery is not discovered. A variation on this strategy is hinted at in many articles on a US-Israeli war on Iran.

The world's top military powers are gradually dismantling their stockpiles of nuclear arms, but all are developing new missiles and warheads with smaller yields that could increase the risk of atomic warfare, a Swedish research institute said Monday.
In its annual report on military forces around the globe, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute also said the rising number of nations with nuclear weapons is raising the risk such arms could be used.

This article by Professor Hossein-zadeh is a masterpiece which illuminates how the military-industrial-political complex works. It shows why it is a far greater threat today than when President Eisenhower warned about it in his farewell speech in 1961. Its short term success depends on the creation of new enemies and threats. These are used to justify wars, increasing military power, arms racing and military spending. In the long run this run-away situation will degrade and may destroy America . So long as this system rules it will gain momentum and strength and be more difficult to reverse. Always new enemies and crisis will be invented to curb popular pressures for change and reform. And the American people can always be fooled into submission by an array of threats, crisis, lies and tricks invented by highly skilled manipulators and propagandists. I think a useful analogy might be to compare the US to a speeding locomotive, out of control with the driver paralysed due to a heart attack. The throttle is jammed in maximum speed position so the locomotive is accelerating. Eventually it goes off the rails or blows up.

How recent U.S. wars of choice, driven largely by war profiteering, are plundering not only defenseless peoples and their resources abroad, but also the overwhelming majority of U.S. citizens and their resources at home.

James Bamford, author and long-time expert on the CIA says the recent CIA released "crown jewels" of CIA operations from 1950 into the 1970's, "seems so minor compared to what the CIA is doing today".

So what will happen?

This is a rare jewel to have a potential assassination victim, Fidel Castro, commenting on the CIA's 'Family Jewels' self-exposure and a few of their numerous attempts to assassinate him.

It was announced that the CIA would be declassifying hundreds of pages on illegal actions that included plans to eliminate the leaders of foreign governments. Suddenly the publication is halted and it is delayed one day. No coherent explanation was given. Perhaps someone in the White House looked over the material.
The first package of declassified documents goes by the name of "The Family Jewels"; it consists of 702 pages on illegal CIA actions between 1959 and 1973. About 100 pages of this part have been deleted. It deals with actions that were not authorized by any law, plots to assassinate other leaders, experiments with drugs on human beings to control their minds, spying on civil activists and journalists, among other similar activities that were expressly prohibited.

If the US is planning to launch a pre-emptive nuclear attack on Iran soon, they would strenuously deny it, and strenuously deny that their unprecedented military build up off Iran's coast, including this third aircraft carrier is in preparation for such a strike. The whole strategy behind a pre-emptive strike is that the intended target is caught by surprise and doesn't know what's coming. It is quite vital to the attacker, that the victim is unprepared for both the attack and to make any possible retaliation.

Struggling to stem growing opposition to his Iraq policy even among Republicans, President Bush contended anew Tuesday that the perpetrators of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States are the same as al Qaida in Iraq, a violent Iraqi insurgent group that didn't exist until after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.
It was the second time in two weeks that Bush has made the link in an apparent attempt to transform lingering fear of another U.S. terrorist attack into backing for the current buildup of U.S. troops in Iraq.
"Al Qaida is doing most of the spectacular bombings, trying to incite sectarian violence," Bush told a business group in Cleveland, Ohio. "The same people that attacked us on September the 11th is a crowd that is now bombing people, killing innocent men, women and children, many of whom are Muslims."

In just a few days, General Petreus will provide a preliminary report to Congress detailing the failure of the Bush "surge" to crush the resistance of the Iraqi people.  Politicians of both parties are scurrying to find positions that will allow them to publicly distance themselves from the failed attempt to colonize Iraq, while they continue to vote for funding for the war.

This is one of many articles I see dealing with the influence of Israel on US Mid-East policies, and how deeply it's agents and activists have penetrated US society. Not mentioned but very important is how Christian Zionists and 'End Time' religionists, link Israel and their favourite myth of 'God's final battle of Armageddon' to Israel's preservation. It is a potent mix in which George Bush as a fervent Christian Fundamentalist End Times believer, plays a vital role.

Everywhere I visit from Copenhagen to Istanbul, Patagonia to Mexico City, journalists and academics, trade unionists and businesspeople, as well as ordinary citizens, inevitably ask me why the US public tolerates the killing of over a million Iraqis over the last two decades, and thousands of Afghans since 2001?

It is refreshing to see a mainstream US paper like the Baltimore Sun, actually spell out some of the evil things the Bush conspiracy is doing to America. Under their very noses, America is being converted into a fascist state. It's time for Americans to stop this conspiracy. More should join the movement to impeach Bush and Cheny before it's too late.

In his first presidential inaugural address in 1801, he ticked off a long list of essential principles of government, featuring highlights of the Bill of Rights, and called preservation of the government "in its whole constitutional vigor" the "anchor of our peace at home and safety abroad." These principles "should be the creed of our political faith," he said. "Should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty and safety."

Bush and Cheney continue to commit huge war crimes based on lies. They are planning perhaps the greatest crime in history - attacking Iran with nuclear weapons and inventing a number of excuses to justify this. In spite of media and Democratic party efforts to whitewash these crimes and lies, or not even admit they exist, an increasing number of Americans are realising this and want Bush and Cheney impeached as the following articles indicate. Many believe Bush-Cheney lies to demonise Iran, faithfully repeated by the media. Led by Bush's neocons, they already call for such an assault.

Ritter then shows how the staffing of a future arms control regime under UN control was well advanced, until scrapped by the US and UK who preferred a world at war instead. It is important to realise that the military-industrial complexes of both countries are dependant on a series of wars into the future to maintain the financial health and profits of their armaments research and manufacturing industries. These are fundamental driving elements of Western culture and identity. They cannot maintain their lead in weapons and plans for global domination, without active wars as a catalyst. Scott Ritter opened new doors of understanding and concern with his deep experience of the machiavellian workings of the real policies of the US and UK.

Sheila Samples has issued a very powerful call to "Impeach Cheney Now" before he is able to initiate even bigger crimes against America and the world.
The US war planned for Iran is next on Cheney's list. If he gets away with this one, we may have past the point of no return.
There would be no going back or investigation. Iran and the Middle East would be in flames with millions dead and dieing. The world would be totally at the mercy of a series of disastrous consequences amid the confusion that would follow. Any ideas of Impeachment then, would just be a joke.
Pre-emptive impeachment action now is the only way future major crimes could be prevented.

Recently, Nova M Radio's Mike Malloy suggested the lethargy that appears to have descended on the American people is more "rage fatigue" than a lack of knowledge or comprehension of the damage wrought by this administration. I agree, although for many of us, rather than fatigue, it's more an inability to "focus" on any single atrocity about which to be enraged. There are just too many incoming horrors at any one time. We are in the throes of a national paralysis....

Scientifically I contemplate the facts, such as:
The 9 arsenals of nuclear weapons with enough fire power to eliminate humanity many times over. Since 1945 famous people and the most informed experts have warned humanity about the nuclear arms race and the many ways it could mean sudden extinction for the human race. That's 62 years of warnings, but nuclear weapons have proliferated and criminal politicians want to use them.
That criminal minds, sociopaths and psychopaths, now control the world's greatest arsenals in the USA, UK and Israel.
... So I contemplate the race toward extinction and wonder “what can I do?”

It's not just the troops that are surging.  War costs are up for American operations in Iraq and Afghanistan* -- way up, more than a third higher than last year.  In the first half of this fiscal year, the Defense Department's "average monthly obligations for contracts and pay is running about $12 billion per month, well above the $8.7 billion in FY2006," says a new report , obtained by DANGER ROOM , from the non-partisan Congressional Research Service.
Additional war costs for the next  10 years could total about $472 billion if troop levels fall to 30,000 by 2010, or $919 billion if troop levels fall to 70,000 by about 2013.  If these estimates are added to already appropriated amounts, total funding about $980 billion to $1.4 trillion by 2017.

It was obvious from the beginning in 2003, when independent experts and everyone in the peace movement warned that possession of Iraq's oil was Bush's main reason for making war on Iraq. The media dutifully suppressed peace movement warnings at that time, and still do. Their loyalty is to the Bush regime and repeating its lies. They have a de facto ban on any other explanations of Bush's lengthy conspiracy and wars.

The Howard Government has today admitted that securing oil supplies is a factor in Australia's continued military involvement in Iraq.

'End Timers' Urge Bush -'Bring on God's Nuclear Doomsday' and Rapture to Heaven for the Faithful. Bush's 'End Times' supporters believe this would be the biblical Armageddon, as foretold in an obscure passage in the Bible. They believe Bush is God's chosen one, and are urging him to make it all happen. They believe it will result in a rapture of the chosen faithful few to heaven. Almost everything Bush has done in the Middle East, and not done, is consistent with these religious bunkum beliefs.

President George W. Bush has become dangerously steeped in ideas of Armageddon, the Apocalypse, an imminent war with Satanic forces in the Middle East, and an urgency to construct an American theocracy to fulfill God's end-of-days plan, according to close observers.
